When sixteen-year-old Noah Keene runs away from his home on the Oregon coast, his quest for a sense of belonging becomes a headlong race to save his younger sister, and the world, from monsters he thought existed only in nightmares. Trapped in endlessly twisting caverns inside Humbug Mountain, Noah must survive a series of challenges, find Abby and seal a portal in the earth before the demonic troll, Spid, and his army of ogres, gammits, gronnks and skrees can pass through.

The Hermit of Humbug Mountain
I will never be able to drive through the shady curves of Humbug Mountain again without looking up into its misty forest and wondering what might be hidden there.
The book The Hermit of Humbug Mountain by Mike Nettleton and Carolyn Rose is a fantasy story of two local runaway teens who find themselves drawn into the mountain and set on a mission to save the world from the forces of Spid the Devious, Grand Exalted Garboon of the Land Below Skin, the Land of Beneath, and his army of trolls, ogres, Banshees, demons, gronnks, skrees, gammits, and … you get the picture.
Noah and his sister Abby are separated in the mountain and meet unlikely allies and enemies, as they move towards the final battle for the unsuspecting people of the land Above Skin, or us, the surface dwellers.
A vanished drummer, a hermit of local legend, a sword carrying warrior girl, Darksuckers, and a little gray guy named Uh-oh, reveal themselves one by one as Noah and Abby learn to trust and find faith in friendship and themselves.
I would tell you more, or maybe not, but I haven’t yet finished reading the book and I won’t spoil it for myself. So check it out for yourself.
The authors are a husband and wife team, and once Mike believed he was lost on Humbug Mountain. A moment he never forgot.
They will be coming through the area this spring for a booktour. So get your copy and be ready.
